Listing here is not an endorsement; check licensing with Länder (state) authorities licence sperm banks and andrology labs as tissue establishments under §§ 20b/20c Arzneimittelgesetz (AMG) and the Transplantationsgesetz; Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) is the federal authority for tissue preparations; the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss (G-BA) sets statutory-insurance cover via the Kryo-Richtlinie.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a sperm bank in Germany?
Check that the provider is licensed by the national regulator (Länder (state) authorities licence sperm banks and andrology labs as tissue establishments under §§ 20b/20c Arzneimittelgesetz (AMG) and the Transplantationsgesetz; Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) is the federal authority for tissue preparations; the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss (G-BA) sets statutory-insurance cover via the Kryo-Richtlinie), ask for the full price including screening and the 10-year storage total, ask how many vials you get per sample and how samples are split, and read the storage contract for what happens if you stop paying or move abroad. Our free clinic-questions checklist covers all of it.
What does sperm freezing cost in Germany?
Typically €250–€515 to freeze one sample and €250–€430 per year to store it. See the full cost guide for Germany for funding and what is included.
Can I use a sperm bank in another country?
Usually yes for freezing, but moving samples across borders later requires both banks to agree, export and import paperwork, and a dry-shipper courier, typically costing several hundred dollars. If you may move, ask about transfer policies before you freeze.
